Washkewicz Students Accomplishing Great Things!
Students from CSU’s Washkewicz College of Engineering are accomplishing great things! Here are a few recent examples.
Senior Electrical Engineering and Computer Science major David Pendleton took first place in the technical paper competition at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Aerospace (AIAA) Region III Student Conference hosted by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign April 1-2, 2016. Pendleton presented his honors thesis entitled, “Development of a Wind Measurement Tool Using a Hovering Drone”, and his first place performance qualified him to present at the AIAA SciTech International Student Conference January 9-13, 2017 in Grapevine, Texas. Mechanical Engineering graduate student Aiden Rinehart earned second place at the conference in the graduate category.

Senior Chemical and Biomedical Engineering student Swapnil Shah won first place at IdeaVikes, a business and innovation competition held at Cleveland State March 22 for his idea of Ustyle, a lightweight and portable touchreen stylus that can connect to headphones or keys. His top finish qualified him to participate in ideaLabs, a regional business proposal competition presented by a partnership of 11 public and private colleges and universities (Entrepreneurship Education Consortium) at John Carroll University March 31, , where he earned 3rd place and a $1,000 prize.
Mechanical engineering undergraduate student Lucas Kuhns earned an Award of Excellence at the Choose Ohio First Poster Conference at Kent State University April 10 for his presentation entitled “How Does Two-Stage Expansion Affect Efficiency of a Gas Turbine?”.
