Marty Ignasiak
BSIE ‘78
President, Connectors Unlimited, Inc.

Marty Ignasiak was a 20-year old industrial engineering major at CSU when he secured his first patent while working in a co-op position at AP Products. The patent, which was for an injection molding method, was the first of 14 patents Marty now holds. His hard work as a co-op lead to a full-time position after graduation and set him on a path for a successful career.

In 1997, Marty founded Connectors Unlimited, Inc., a custom solution provider serving the interconnect industry located in Painesville, Ohio. The 50-person company serves clients worldwide including GE Healthcare who they provide parts for custom CAT scan machines. “Our customers have embraced our business concept of providing innovative solutions to their connector requirements with value-priced components,” said Marty.

Marty credits his co-op experience at CSU for his successful career and recommends that current and future engineering students go through the Co-op Program. He specifically advises students to “not be afraid to co-op at a small company” because the hands-on experience is immeasurable. Marty was also involved with many campus organizations at CSU and encourages students to “take advantage of the social activities at CSU. They bring a sense of belonging with your fellow students.”
