CSU Shines at OCWiC 2025: Empowering Women in Computing and Showcasing Academic Excellence

Washkewicz College of Engineering proudly participated in the Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing (OCWiC 2025), an ACM biennial event held February 21–22 at the Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron, Ohio. This conference brought together women in computing from leading organizations and universities across Ohio, including Bowling Green State University, Case Western Reserve University, Kent State University, KeyBank, Medical Mutual, MIM Software, Ohio Northern University, Ohio State University, Ohio University, Owens Corning, Sherwin Williams, University of Findlay, Westfield Insurance, Women Impact Tech and Youngstown State University.

Organized by Dr. Aditi Singh, Assistant College Lecturer of Computer Science, Washkewicz College of Engineering highlighted academic opportunities, showcasing our Ph.D. programs in Applied Data Science and Computer Science (including the Data Science track), master's programs such as the Master of Computer Science with a Data Science focus (MCS-DS) and Master of Software Engineering (MSSE), and undergraduate degrees in Computer Science (BSCS), Data Science (BSDS) and several integrated degrees. These programs generated significant enthusiasm, especially among undergraduate students, as well as industry professionals exploring advanced academic pathways.

Students Temitope Adeniyi (Odeyomi) and Hannah G. Simon represented the College by presenting their research posters at the event. Additionally, students Adya Hindalahally Nagesha, Dinky Mishra, Eva Ternovska, Hannah G. Simon, and Sushma Avala actively participated in the Leadership Summit, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills and initiative.

Moreover, Dr. Singh delivered an engaging professional talk entitled "Rise of Agentic RAG: Enhancing Accuracy and Minimizing Hallucinations in LLMs," showcasing her impactful research contributions in the field. Special thanks go to Assistant Professor Rebecca Odom-Bartel, Ph.D., for her continued support, as well as to the Dean's Office and the Computer Science Department, whose contributions made our participation at OCWiC 2025 both memorable and impactful,” said Dr. Singh.
