ADRC Update with Dr. Zhiqiang Gao
20 years after its debut, ADRC, the brain child of Dr. Zhiqiang Gao, Associate Professor, Electrical Engineering and Director of the Center for Advanced Control Technologies, is now included in Matlab-Simulink base package. Dr. Gao's ADRC patent portfolio was the foundation for CSU's first start-up company in 2006. The ADRC Technology was licensed to LineStream Technologies which raised over $11M of financing. See the Washkewicz Magazine 2019-2020 Issue for a full write-up
Former student and now colleague, Professor Toufik Aidja said, "Early in my career, I took the time to enroll in his advanced control class in year 2005. His class material was fascinating with full lectures, Matlab projects and publications. He was elegant in explaining complex mathematics with simple pictures, beautiful stories, and analogies. I enjoyed his style of teaching which is a true testimony of how science and art can be combined to give a new perspective to engineering design." To date, Dr. Gao's ADRC patent portfolio is CSU's most successful licensed technology.
