CSU Esports – Built to Compete

Vikings Esports is the official esports program of Cleveland State University. We compete in national collegiate leagues across several different titles, representing CSU with the same drive and teamwork that you would find in any traditional sport.

Our program is built on two core ideas: competition and community. We train hard to perform at a high level, but we also make space for players of all skill levels to get involved, connect, and grow. Whether you’re aiming for varsity play, looking to meet other gamers, or just want to cheer us on, Vikings Esports is here for you.

But we’re more than just competition. Vikings Esports is also about building connections—on campus, online, and beyond. We welcome students of all skill levels to be part of our growing program, where teamwork, leadership, and lasting companionships thrive.

Midgard Mayhem #9

CSU’s Midgard Mayhem #9 just recently passed and topped Midgard Mayhem #8 in size! With over 100 players attending, CSU was packed! Everyone had an fantastic time competing with each other and getting to hang out! Congratulations to our first place winner, “IcyMist”! We can’t wait to see you join us for Midgard Mayhem #10 on August 31st!

PJ Farrell Nominated for Competition Council for NACE

This Past month, CSU Esports Director PJ Farrell was nominated for the competition council for NACE! We are so proud of you PJ and couldn’t ask for a better director to be nominated!

Esports Scholar Cleveland Championship

CSU hosted the Esports Scholar Cleveland Championship, which is a summer program that works with rec centers on both the east and west sides of Cleveland to introduce youth to esports! Games like Marvel Rivals, Street Fighter 6, Fortnite, and many more were played. Everyone had a great time playing fun games, competing in challenging matchups, and hanging out! We hope to see everyone back again soon!

LifeBlood 2 - Smash Ultimate Event

Recently, CSU held the LifeBlood 2 event, a 16 person invitational hosted by RetroLazer. Unlike most invitationals, LifeBlood highlighted talented players that are not ranked in Northeast Ohio. The event spanned two days, day two including the final double-elimination tournament. Special congratulations to the first-place winner, “Grediam,” and to the second-place winner, “Cole's Corner.”
