AKRON, Ohio – Cleveland State University Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player Scott “Dr. Kirb” Wade made a massive statement down in Akron, securing his first regional tournament victory since joining the program.

Competing at Rootown Rumble 5, a regional event that drew 115 attendees from across the Midwest, Wade put on a dominant performance. He managed to exceed his original #4 seed by three placements to take home the championship title.

His path to victory was far from easy. To secure the win, Scott had to overcome a gauntlet of top-ranked competitors, including Dice (#108 in North America), Rob (#118 in North America), Loafer (#3 in Indiana), and Vencho (#13 in Ohio).

It wasn't just a solo effort, however. Wade also teamed up with fellow CSU player Jackson “RetroLazer” Curet to win the doubles bracket. Between the two victories, Scott walked away with a grand total of $1,200 in prize money.

The program congratulates Scott on his incredible dual victories and his profitable weekend!
