From Code to Competition: Lake High School Explores Tech Pathways at CSU
CLEVELAND – On September 23rd, Cleveland State University and the Washkewicz School of Engineering welcomed the next generation of tech talent to campus. Computer science students from Lake High School were given an immersive tour of CSU’s facilities, highlighting the dynamic pathways available in technology and competitive gaming.
A major highlight of their visit was a stop at the CSU esports lab. The high school students received a comprehensive presentation and a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities, gaining firsthand insight into the structure and opportunities within a top-tier collegiate esports program.
Adding a personal touch to the experience, the students heard directly from a panel of CSU's esports leaders. The panel included Club Director PJ Farrell, as well as varsity players representing the program’s diverse titles: Isaiah Howard (Street Fighter Captain), Nung Lian (Valorant), Reid Lake (League of Legends), and Will Strayer (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate).
The event served as a powerful example of the growing intersection between STEM education and the esports industry. Cleveland State was thrilled to host the students from Lake High School and showcase the vibrant community and exciting opportunities that await them at the university level.
