CLEVELAND – The Cleveland State University Rocket League Varsity team is officially moving up to the big leagues. After years of consistently dominating the competitive scene and stacking up wins, the squad has made program history by securing a promotion to NECC Division 1.

The NECC divides collegiate esports teams into multiple divisions based entirely on their skill level. By earning this promotion, the Vikings have proven they belong in the absolute highest tier of competition.

The jump to Division 1 comes on the heels of a thrilling run. The team fought hard to earn two consecutive, high-stakes victories, taking down Southeastern Oklahoma State in a tight 3-2 series before defeating BPCU Esports 3-1 to punch their ticket to the top flight.

This milestone is just the latest in a series of major achievements for the Rocket League roster. After receiving their rings in 2025 for winning the Division 3 National Championship, the squad is carrying massive momentum into the new season. Now, they have their sights set on an even bigger prize: continuing their winning streak and securing a Division 1 National Championship.

Good luck this season, team! We are all so proud of you.
