Two Titles and a Trip to Texas: CSU Dominates GLEC Fall Finals
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Cleveland State University Esports program traveled to South Bend, Indiana, over the weekend of November 14 for the GLEC 2025 Fall Finals, returning home with two championship trophies and a ticket to a national tournament.
Smash Ultimate: The Perfect Season The CSU Smash Ultimate team capped off a flawless season by winning the GLEC conference title against Illinois Wesleyan University. The victory marked the end of a dominant run where the team did not lose a single game throughout the entire GLEC season or at the LAN event.
A special spotlight belongs to Scottie “Dr. Kirb” Wade, who delivered a stunning performance by taking 11 stocks during Game 2 of the grand finals.
Valorant: Texas Bound The Valorant Varsity team also claimed gold, defeating Tiffin University to win their GLEC conference title. This victory comes with a major reward: a bid to compete at the CECC Nationals in Texas this coming spring. Ziyeir “Exquisitely” Norman was instrumental in the win, racking up eliminations and making key plays during the grand finals.
League of Legends & Individual Honors The League of Legends team put up a strong fight, finishing in 2nd place against Indiana Tech University. Matt “Skrub McLord” Nieszczur was highlighted for his excellent gameplay in several tough matches.
The program also celebrated multiple players who earned 1st or 2nd Team All-Conference honors. The team credited the successful season to the hard work of the players and the support of Director of Esports PJ Farrell, whose encouragement and dedication allowed the teams to compete at the highest level.
