- hosted at Campus International School, conveniently located across from CSU
- completely free for all participants
- complimentary breakfast snacks and lunch are provided
- every student receives a monetary award
- prizes are awarded on the same day as the competition
- simultaneous workshops are available for teachers
- there are engaging events for parents happening concurrently
- the focus of all student projects is on improving human health or protecting the environment
- it's a true "family affair"—students often tackle medical challenges faced by their family members, such as grandparents, parents, or aunts and uncles
- teams of students in grades 6-12 are encouraged to participate
- students can showcase prototypes of their ideas. For example, they might demonstrate a device that makes it easier for a grandparent to open a peanut butter jar
- fosters creativity, community, and real-world problem-solving, making it an inclusive and impactful experience for all involved
This event is designed to inspire students to:
- present and write logical arguments based on substantive claims, sound reasoning, and relevant evidence
- evaluate and present increasingly complex information
- grow vocabularies in the areas of science, engineering, and medicine
- develop familiarity with 21st century media and technology
- practice applying mathematical ways of thinking to real world issues and challenges
- become familiar with engineering design and its process
- appreciate methods to protect the earth’s environment
- become proficient at testing a concept and improving ideas for new medical devices or conserving our planet
