ASEE Welcomes Washkewicz College of Engineering in Leadership Roles at Conference for Industry and Education Collaboration
Representatives from the Cleveland State University (CSU) Washkewicz of Engineering will have major roles at the 2015 Conference for Industry and Education Collaboration (CIEC) that will be held in Palm Springs, California. CIEC is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and will focus on the theme of “Engineering Education: Past, Present, and Future” during the February 4 – 6, 2015, conference. Accomplishments in Co-operative and Experiential Education, college-industry partnerships, continuing professional development, and engineering technology will be highlighted.
On February 4, 2015, Dean of Engineering, Dr. Anette Karlsson will represent CSU on a distinguished panel of representatives from industry and academia to determine precise answers to the question of how past and present experiences in engineering education might lead to new paths in engineering and engineering technology curricular, professional development programs, co-operative education and internship experiences, and academic-industry partnerships. This important dialogue will take place during a plenary session that will be attended by the conference’s 200 plus attendees.
Ms. Sandra English, Manager for the CSU Engineering Co-operative Education Program was selected as Cooperative and Experiential Education Division (CEED) Program Chair for this year’s CIEC. In this role, she coordinated the entire program for the CEED sessions which required her to coordinate with co-operative education program representatives from universities and companies across the country.
Also on February 4, Dr. Woodrow Whitlow, Jr., College of Engineering Executive in Residence, will lead a discussion on strategies for successful co-operative education and internship experiences from the perspectives of students, industry, and universities. His panel will include the founder of a company dedicated to improving the graduation rates of students studying in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields and representatives from industry and academia. Danielle Beaverson, CSU Engineering Co-op Coordinator, will represent the College of Engineering at the conference EXPO and poster sessions throughout the conference.
