Ohio Cooperative Education Association Conference, May 24-26, Cleveland

CSU’s Washkewicz College of Engineering, Case Western Reserve University and Ernst & Young will present the 2016 Ohio Cooperative Education Association (OCEA) Conference May 24-26, 2016 at the Richard T. Baker Conference Center in the beautiful Ernst & Young Tower on the East Bank of the Flats (950 Main Avenue, Cleveland, OH).

The theme for this year’s event is "You are here:  Reflect, Recharge, Refine,” and Teresa HackPresident and COO of Channel Products, will be the signature keynote speaker. Ms. Hack serves on the Visiting Committee for the Monte Ahuja College of Business at Cleveland State University has been a requested speaker on leadership, personal development, and building a strong business culture.

The OCEA Conference will reflect on the value of co-ops and internships for educators, employers and students. OCEA is working to improve and enhance co-ops and internships in Ohio.  Specifically, the conference will:

  • Highlight these efforts 
  • ​Showcase best practices and achievements
  • ​Project future action steps for sustainability                                                                                         

The Ohio Cooperative Education Association is a nonprofit professional association founded in 1971. OCEA membership is open to employers, educators, and those interested in Cooperative Education and Internships in the state of Ohio. 

OCEA provides a professional organization for all Ohio institutions of higher education, employers/organizations, and individuals interested in Experiential Education (co-ops and internships).  OCEA strengthens the functioning of Cooperative Education through active interchange of ideas and experience.

OCEA develops structured guidelines for the operation of Cooperative Education Programs and Internships in Ohio and recognize outstanding programs and practitioners.  The Washkewicz College of Engineering Fenn Co-op program was awarded the E. Sam Sovilla at the 2015 OCEA conference.  The E. Sam Sovilla Award for Excellence is the highest honor presented by the Ohio Cooperative Education Association for educational institutions and employing organizations that maintain exceptional internship and/or cooperative education programs.  OCEA develops and maintains scholarships and other philanthropic programs that advance awareness of and participation in Experiential Education.
