Get Involved with the PDI

Join the in-house CM/PDI Summer Co-op Program to gain structured, project-based experience in digital construction and capital project delivery. Students work in multidisciplinary teams, receive guidance from faculty and industry mentors, develop proficiency with professional technologies, and explore real challenges that may become future research or senior design projects.

Collaborate with students from different engineering and professional disciplines to address an industry- or community-sponsored challenge. Students contribute their technical expertise while developing practical skills in teamwork, project planning, problem-solving, leadership, communication, and client engagement.

Use the Building Information Modeling Laboratory to develop practical experience with technologies such as Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Forma, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Procore, Primavera P6, Virtual Reality, and related digital project delivery platforms. Students can participate in training sessions, applied projects, demonstrations, research activities, and technology-supported coursework.

Meet professionals and community leaders working across construction, engineering, architecture, real estate development, infrastructure, technology, government, and nonprofit organizations. The speaker series gives students direct exposure to current projects, emerging industry trends, career pathways, lessons learned, and regional workforce needs.

Work with faculty, graduate students, industry partners, and community organizations on applied research addressing topics such as BIM and digital twins, sustainable infrastructure, modular construction, workforce development, project controls, construction contracts and claims, resilient communities, and innovative capital project delivery. 

Join PDI as a Student Member to become part of an interdisciplinary network of students, faculty, industry professionals, and community partners. Student members may receive access to professional events, project opportunities, mentoring, laboratory activities, research initiatives, workshops, and leadership experiences. 

Through PDI activities, students can build relationships with potential mentors, employers, project sponsors, faculty researchers, and peers from other disciplines. These connections support co-op and internship placement, career exploration, professional development, graduate education, and long-term industry engagement. 

Mentor undergraduate and graduate students participating in the CM/PDI Summer Co-op Program or multidisciplinary Senior Design/Capstone Projects. Mentors help students refine project ideas, provide technical and professional guidance, introduce real-world challenges, and prepare the next generation of construction and engineering professionals.

Partner with student teams by proposing an industry challenge, sponsoring a multidisciplinary capstone project, providing project data, or serving as a technical advisor. Projects are tailored to address real organizational needs while giving students valuable hands-on experience solving practical problems.

Share your expertise by presenting emerging trends, innovative projects, lessons learned, or current challenges in the built environment. Our speaker series connects students with leaders from construction, engineering, architecture, ownership organizations, public agencies, technology companies, and community organizations. 

Experience Cleveland State's growing Digital Construction Ecosystem by visiting the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Laboratory. Visitors can observe student projects, explore BIM and Virtual Reality demonstrations, learn about digital project delivery technologies, and discuss opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and workforce development.

Join the Project Delivery Institute as an Industry or Community Member and become part of a collaborative network dedicated to advancing project delivery, digital innovation, sustainable infrastructure, and workforce development. Members have opportunities to participate in research initiatives, workforce and curriculum development, advisory activities, professional events, and strategic partnerships that strengthen both the university and the regional built environment.
