Sports Center on Lake Erie!

The featured videos showcase immersive Virtual Reality (VR) walkthroughs of conceptual building designs created by multidisciplinary student teams from the Construction Management (CM) and Civil Engineering (CVE) programs.

As part of the CM curriculum (CMG 420 – Applied Sustainability), students collaborated to develop integrated solutions for an upscale lakeside sports center in Lakewood, Ohio, evaluating building envelopes, structural systems, foundations, roofing, building services, sustainability strategies, constructability, cost, scheduling, and site-specific challenges associated with the Lake Erie shoreline. Using Building Information Modeling (BIM) and visualization technologies, each team transformed its design into an interactive VR experience, allowing faculty, industry professionals, and community partners to virtually explore the proposed facility and experience the students' design decisions firsthand.

The projects also served as the first milestone in the development of the BIM Laboratory's integrated Digital Project Delivery ecosystem, building on the student models, during the CM/PDI Summer 2026 Co-op (ESC 400) utilizing Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Forma, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Procore, Primavera P6, and related digital project delivery technologies.
