About the AMC

TransDigm AMC front entrance

Background

The current AMC work of manufacturer engagement and technology pilot projects has been funded by FY2020 and FY2023 Economic Development Administration (EDA) Build to Scale grants. With select partnerships in industry, academia, and non-profit sectors, Cleveland State University realized the need to have a physical experiential learning lab for the next generation of manufacturing professionals and technologies, thus creating the CSU-TransDigm Advanced Manufacturing Center.

In Summer 2024, The TransDigm Group, headquartered in Cleveland Ohio, made a 5-year gift to the AMC, further supporting the growth and development of our manufacturing capabilities and student opportunities. Additionally, state and Department of Defense-supported funding has provided the capital for machinery, staffing and program creation

The objectives of the AMC are to enhance the undergraduate experience, invite on-campus industry collaboration, and spur regional economic growth through research, technology adoption projects and product improvements. With exposure to manufacturing process fundamentals and engineering mentorship, undergraduates and incumbent workers alike will benefit from gaining a wider understanding of what the future of manufacturing looks like.
