Welcome to the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. The Bachelor of Civil Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Acceditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org. It is one of many accredited undergraduate programs offered by the Washkewicz College of Engineering. Please refer to the College's statement of accreditation.
ABET requires that each accredited program publicly post program educational objectives, student outcomes, annual student enrollment, and graduation data. For the Civil Engineering program, annual student enrollment and graduation data are posted in the Cleveland State University Book of Trends. The College has also posted student enrollment data for Fall 2015 and Spring 2016, as well as graduation data for 2011 through 2015.
Through its ABET accredited undergraduate program and graduate program, the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department prepares its students to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Students develop insights into the physical, economical, sociological, and even political constraints which must be considered in engineering analysis and design. Upon completion of the program, the new engineers are able to make a smooth transition to civil engineering practice and research.
Civil engineers design and supervise the construction of roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and water supply and sewage systems. Civil engineering, considered one of the oldest engineering disciplines, encompasses many specialties, and overall job opportunities consistently remain strong and starting salaries are among the highest of all college graduates.
