Program Objectives

Introduction


The mechanical engineering curriculum prepares students for a wide variety of technical and professional fields having their roots in mechanical engineering - areas as diverse as aeronautics, aerospace, power generation, energy conversion and conservation, transportation, manufacturing, product design, robotics and controls, and others. Furthermore, because of the breadth of the mechanical engineering curriculum, graduates have the adaptability and flexibility to become part of the newest and most exciting technologies. Additionally, graduates of the program may use their educational background as preparation for a career in research and development, business, management, law, etc., in combination with suitable graduate education.

Mechanical Engineering Program Educational Objectives

The Program Produces Graduates Who:

  • Practice mechanical engineering in Fluid Thermal/Energy Conversion and Machine System stems of the discipline in private, government or industrial organizations.
  • Practice mechanical engineering in environments that require variety of roles including engineering problem definitions, application of advanced methods of analysis, problem diagnosing, solution of real-world engineering design problems that are subject to realistic constraints such as cost, safety, etc.
  • Actively contribute in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • Enhance their knowledge beyond BS level, engage in life long learning, and keep current with advancements in engineering and technology.
