The Mechanical Engineering Department provides a rigorous education in the principles of mechanical engineering, supplemented by practical experience and communication skills to transform students into well-rounded and competent, ready to go engineers. We strive to improve the lives and livelihood of local, national and international communities via a close partnership with companies and government. We share knowledge through excellence in education, service, and research.

The vision of the Mechanical Engineering Department is to be recognized regionally and nationally for excellence in mechanical engineering education, graduating world-class mechanical engineers, and supporting innovative research. We aim to be the first choice in the greater Cleveland region for students starting their education, and for employers that hire mechanical engineers.
