Learn about the Accelerated Masters in CS!

The Department of Computer Science offers an accelerated program that enables students to earn a Bachelor of Computer Science degree as well as earn graduate degree credits toward a Master's in Computer Science.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • Completed at least 60 credit hours of which at least thirty (30) need to be earned at CSU

  • Undergraduate students who are accepted into the Accelerated Master's Program (AKA 4+1) prior to Fall 2024 may earn a maximum of 12 master's credit hours, that will count toward both the undergraduate and graduate degrees. 
  • After Fall 2024, you may earn a maximum of 9 master's credit hours, that will count toward both the undergraduate and graduate degrees. 
  • Undergraduate students can earn up to a total of 21 master's credit hours prior to their completion of undergraduate degree.
  • Seek email permission from contact person listed below to approve the additional 9 to 12 master's credits.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Only grades of B or higher can be transferred to the graduate record.

 

Students who are interested in the Accelerated Master's Program (AKA 4+1) in Computer Science may submit their application upon completing the first semester of their junior year. Applications may be submitted by the end of their junior year. This application policy also applies to transfer students who have equivalent junior status.

To see the Computer Science courses that provide both undergraduate and graduate course credit, log into CampusNet, go to Class Search, choose a semester, and search for CS undergraduate courses that have the pink circle with the letter C inside signifying ‘combined.'

When you click on the pink circled C, you will see the current enrollment for the graduate portion of the course.

You WILL need special permission to enroll in the graduate course as an Accelerated Master's Program student. Ask your academic advisor to submit this special permission to enroll in the combined CS graduate course.
