Welcome future Chemical and Biomedical Engineers!

At Cleveland State University, we are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to all aspiring engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers who have embarked on their journey to explore the realms of chemical and biomedical engineering.

Our program is a hub of creativity, discovery, and transformation, where the boundaries of science and technology are continually pushed, and where students are empowered to become the pioneers of tomorrow's solutions.

With a rich tradition of excellence, a dedicated faculty, and a commitment to nurturing the next generation of engineering leaders, we offer a vibrant and collaborative learning environment that encourages curiosity and challenges the status quo. Here, you will embark on a path of exploration, innovation, and invention, pushing the frontiers of what's possible in fields critical to improving human health, quality of life, and the sustainability of our planet.

Our undergraduate chemical engineering students enjoy the benefits of significant student-faculty interactions, recently renovated teaching labs, active student organizations, and an accredited Cooperative Education program.  Both undergraduate and graduate students conduct research with faculty mentors in modern research labs.  The Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering also administers two distinct master's degree programs (MS Chemical Engineering and MS Biomedical Engineering) and two specializations within the Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering Program (Chemical Engineering and Applied Biomedical Engineering).  The Applied Biomedical Engineering program is joint program with the Lerner Research Institute of the Cleveland Clinic.

The Department enjoys close relationships with many northeast Ohio companies (Lubrizol, PPG, Sherwin Williams, Rockwell Automation, and Xellia to name a few), with NASA Glenn Research Center, and with the Cleveland Clinic.  In fact, many of the ABE doctoral students and MS Biomedical Engineering students, conduct their research at the Cleveland Clinic under the mentorship of their world-renowned investigators.

If you are interested in an engineering-related profession, CSU is an excellent choice. Contact the Chemical and Biomedical Engineering Department office at 216-687-2569 for more information and to schedule an appointment with our undergraduate/graduate advisors.

The Washkewicz College of Engineering originated as Fenn College, a private institution founded in 1923, and has enjoyed a reputation for excellence even before the founding of Cleveland State University. The Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at CSU offers an undergraduate and graduate programs in both Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering.
