The purpose of the Society For Biomaterials (SFB) is to encourage the development, integration, and utilization of knowledge in biomaterials primarily among students and the CSU community. Our objectives are to enhance student interest in biomaterials and related disciplines, and to promote the advancement of biomaterials research and education and its related aspects. The SFB will achieve these objectives by fostering collaborations between students and faculty, organizing impactful events, and providing resources that empower students. Cleveland State University's new student chapter of the Society For Biomaterials is excited to announce our first Biomaterials Research Day! This event will be held at CSU on April 17th, 2026. We are looking forward to bringing together students, trainees, and faculty to share ideas, showcase ongoing work, and foster new collaborations. Event highlights will include three invited speakers, roundtable discussions, 5-minute rapid-fire presentations, and a poster session. We would like to invite all undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers to submit an abstract for a poster and/or a rapid-fire talk. The featured areas of interest are Tissue Engineering & Regeneration, Drug & Gene Delivery, and Biofabrication & 3D Bioprinting. The submission deadline for abstracts is Saturday, January 31st, 2026.

About the Positions:

The President shall establish and maintain operation of the organization, call meetings, serve as official liaison to University Administration, and answer for all actions of other officers/members.  

The Vice President shall assist the President with all administrative duties and assume those duties in their absence. In addition, the Vice President will coordinate events within the university, such as engineering week and open houses.

The Secretary shall keep accurate and detailed records of all meetings and affairs, transmit all official organization correspondence, take attendance at meetings, and coordinate the preparation and distribution of information/materials. 

The Treasurer shall receive and distribute organization funds in accordance with University and State of Ohio regulations, make financial reports at appropriate meetings, help the Event Coordinator with fundraising activities, and have all disbursements approved in writing by the president or the academic advisor.
