About Biomaterials
Biomaterials are natural or synthetic materials that are engineered to interact safely and effectively with biological systems, primarily used in medical applications to support, enhance, or replace damaged tissue or biological functions. Biomaterials research at Cleveland State University takes an interdisciplinary approach to encompass areas such as tissue engineering, biomechanics, and nanomaterials. Ongoing research continues to expand the capabilities of biomaterials, integrating innovations such as nanotechnology, smart responsive polymers, and bioactive components to create more effective solutions.
