Chemical and Biomedical Engineering research at Cleveland State University is at the forefront of innovation, bridging fundamental science with practical applications in healthcare and industry. The department is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach, focusing on areas such as biomaterials, nanomaterials, reaction engineering, tissue engineering, along with others.  The program offers state-of-the-art facilities and partnerships with NASA, the Cleveland Clinic, Case Western Reserve University, and industry leaders to translate research into real-world solutions that enhance human health and wellbeing.


CSU's Center for Human-Machine Systems

Many of our biomedical engineering students work with the Center for Human-Machine Systems (CHMS), which aims to improve human-machine systems by combining the unique capabilities of the engineered and natural subsystems.
