Chemical and Biomedical Engineering

Accelerated Program - Masters Biomedical Engineering

Accelerated Program:

Bachelor of Chemical Engineering/Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering

Description

The accelerated program in biomedical engineering enables students to earn both the bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering program and the master of science in biomedical engineering at CSU in 5 years. Students are eligible to apply for the program after they have completed 75 credit hours, typically at the end of the junior year (with at least 30 credit hours at CSU), and they have shown appropriate progress in their degree program. Once admitted to the combined program, the student may complete up to twelve (12) credit hours of graduate courses while enrolled in the undergraduate program. Nine (9) of these credits will count towards both the undergraduate and graduate degree requirements.

Admission Requirements

  • Students must have shown appropriate progress in their degree program, with a GPA of 3.25 or higher
  • Completion of the application for the graduate program, including a recommendation from a faculty member
  • Enrollment in the bachelor of chemical engineering program

Program Requirements

Students must maintain a 3.25 or higher GPA to remain in the program. Courses which will be applied to both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees must be taken at the 500 level.  The courses that can be applied towards both the bachelor and master degrees are described below.

Bachelor of Chemical Engineering/MS Biomedical Engineering (9 credits)

BME 553 Cell and Tissue Biology (3 credits)
[Fulfills three (3) credits of the Advanced Science/Chemistry Elective Requirement of the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Program]

BME 570 Biomedical Signal Processing (3 credits)
Any 5xx elective from the approved list of BME electives (3 credits)
[Fulfill the Senior Electives Requirements of the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Program]
