Engineers help patients breathe easier

An estimated 12.7 million adults in the United States suffer from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In many cases, patients need supplementary medical oxygen for the rest of their lives and until recently, equipment for oxygen therapy was heavy, bulky and difficult to use.Researchers at Invacare Corporation and CSU have teamed up to transform the future of oxygen therapy. Led byProfessors Ungarala and Talu, this team aims to address the technical challenges that many oxygen users face today, and delivering on Invacare’s brand promise for millions of COPD patients - Making Life’s Experiences Possible.
